Accountant Unit
This unit will be responsible for the preparation and execution of various payments within the Ministry. This unit will be headed by the Chief Accountant of the Ministry.
Internal Auditing Unit
This unit will be responsible for the advisory and financial control functions of the Ministry, conducting audits of the use of the Ministry’s resources. This unit will be headed by the Auditor General of the Ministry.
Procurement Unit
This unit is responsible for providing procurement services and managing the disposal of public assets within the Ministry. This unit will be headed by a Head of Unit.
Legal Unit
This unit is responsible for providing legal advisory services on various issues related to the responsibilities of the Ministry. This unit will be headed by a Head of Unit.
Inclusive Education and Life Skills Unit
This unit is responsible for implementing and supervising Inclusive Education activities, providing counselling related to fighting against AIDS, Gender and sustainable Discipline, supervising the implementation of the Education Policy including the Inclusive Education Policy, carrying out responsibilities based on the principles of human rights (Human Rights Based Approach), supervising the provision of quality Education to students with special needs in Zanzibar and to all students in general, supervising the implementation of work based on the principles of human rights (Human Rights Based Approach) in all sections of the Unit, supervising the implementation of Inclusive Education activities.
Information, Communication and Relations Unit
This unit will be responsible for information, communication and relations between the Ministry and other institutions, coordinating complaints and publicizing the activities of the Ministry. This unit will be headed by a Head of Unit.
Office of the Registrar of Education
This unit is responsible for reviewing the standards and quality of schools and government and private teachers, registering schools and issuing licenses to private and government school teachers; and monitoring the development of education through the Education Council and Regional and District Education Boards.
Higher Education Unit
This unit is responsible for coordinating the provision of higher education to higher education institutions in Zanzibar, conducting monitoring and evaluation to ensure that all institutions providing higher education comply with the laws and regulations set out in the provision of higher education services in the country, keeping records of those who go and return to study within and outside the country, coordinating scholarship opportunities that are available through the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and those that are available directly to the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
ICT Unit
This unit will be responsible for the provision of information and communication technology services within the Ministry. This unit will be headed by a Head of Unit.
Private Schools Management and Coordination Unit
This unit is responsible for managing private academic and professional educational institutions at all levels of education offered in Unguja and Pemba, recommending disciplinary measures for private schools that do not follow the guidelines provided by Ministry of Education, ensuring that trained teachers with teaching licenses are employed in private schools, managing the operations of private teaching colleges for certificate and diploma levels and ensuring the placement of guidelines in the financing of education for private educational institutions, health issues, etc.
